Hello! We’re Teresa Sorenson and Lara Durben, partners of Empowered Events LLC and we’re so glad you’ve found us here.

We’re best of friends and former coworkers who share a passion for creating exceptional events, trade shows, conferences, and memorable experiences. We love working together and have developed the perfect synergy because of our complementary skills, our shared work ethic, and ‘get it done’ attitudes.
With well over 3 decades of experience, our expertise runs the gamut from small meetings, retreats and conferences to complex education programs and large trade shows — including in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.

Teresa Sorenson is the ultimate organizer! She doesn’t miss a detail when it comes to all the logistics needed for an event. She loves to see her visions come to fruition and her outgoing personality make her easy to get along with just about anybody.
In her spare time, Teresa is a mom of two daughters, wife, and home decorator extraordinaire who loves to create a welcoming and pretty home life for her family and friends. She also enjoys working out, watching The Voice, hosting amazing dinner parties, playing pickleball, hanging at the beach, and evenings with a glass of wine by the fire.

Lara Durben lives by her to-do lists and loves taking care of all the little details. She has a particular passion for communications, social media, graphics, and writing so you will find her creating compelling marketing pieces of all kinds for our clients’ events. She’s a little quieter than Teresa and together, their strengths play off each other in the most perfect ways.
When Lara isn’t planning events, she loves getting her hands dirty in her flower and veggie gardens, baking fresh treats, playing piano duets with her son, and planning her family’s next trip. She, too, is a wife, mother (well, ‘boymom’ to one teenager to be more specific!), and also happens to love a glass of wine by the fire.

Our team is rounded out by the amazing Sara Van Den Einde and Tonia Evans. Their varied and wide-ranging backgrounds in project management, marketing, communications, event planning, communications, and other experience have allowed them to hit the ground running on behalf of our clients.
